Explanation of Modifiers
Modifiers are used to change the quantity sold when an item is sold on the PoS. For example, a
modifier could be called “half”, and it used to change a quantity from 1 to ½. Other modifiers could
be for doubles (for spirits), or for glasses of wine. Each product can have its own selling price per
modifier. For example, a pint might sell for £2.00, but you could sell a half pint for £1.50.
To calculate a Modifier percentage the full-size unit i.e a bottle of wine (750ML) would be treated as 100%.
The first thing to do is work out how many units can be made from a whole bottle or pint etc, you would then do a simple calculation to get the modifier value.
For example:
1 Pint (568ml), I need to work out a 100ml modifier.
568/100 = 5.68
Ignoring the size we now know that we can get 5.68 units smaller units out of one whole unit but we need to work out the modifier for this. To do this it is simple we treat 568 as 1 with this being a whole unit and divide it by the amount of glasses that go into it, in this case 5.68
1/5.68=0.176
To conclude this means for a Pint sized product if you wanted a 100ml modifier the modifier value needs to be set as 0.176.
This same method can be used to work out smaller and larger sizes.
Maximum Modifiers: This is the number of modifiers that you require (default = 5),
you can increase this if necessary.
