GPoS Realtime Communications Setup
GPoS can communicate in realtime with the back office system,
posting sales as they are completed and receiving updates as they
are created with Total Control Premier's Communications Wizard. A
number of System Options need to be set on the GPoS database itself
to allow this to happen.
Before You Get Started
Setup Requirements
- An active network connection between the POS terminal and the
PC or server running the Total Control Premier Job Controller
service
- Open access on TCP port 9965 between the POS terminal and the
PC or server running the Total Control Premier Job Controller
service
- Corresponding active POS record(s) in Total Control Premier's
Site Structure with the relevant ECR ID(s) and IP Address(es)
IP Addresses vs Host Names
GPoS 1.64 introduced the ability to
communicate using host
names via DNS lookup. For the purposes of this guide,
the IP address specified in the BOS IP Address System Option can be
substituted with the host name of the PC or server, providing the
POS terminal can communicate with the PC or server using DNS.
GPoS Utility
1. Open the GPoS Programming
Utility, either by double-clicking the Fidelity GPoS
Utility shortcut on the desktop or by clicking Start
> All Programs > Fidelity GPoS
> Fidelity GPoS Utility
|
|
2. Select the correct database
name and click Continue
Usually there is just one "FidelityECRSystem" database,
but there may be other databases or the default database may
have a different name - check with your EPOS administrator
if you are unsure
|
|
3. Click Programming >
System Tables > System Options (Grouped)
or System Options (List) |
|
4. Select the "Realtime Comms"
category by expanding the Category row when using System
Options (Grouped) or by typing or selecting "Realtime Comms"
in the Category filter when using System Options (List)
|
|
5. Double-click 350:
BOS IP Address and enter the IP address of the PC or
server that is running the Job Controller service used for
realtime sales and updates, then click OK to set
the option
|
|
6. Set 351: Post
Transactions to BOS in realtime and 352: Periodically
check for updates to True if they aren't already set -
these options instruct GPoS to post transactions to Total
Control Premier and check in to get updates to Products,
Clerks, Screens etc
|
|
7. Start GPoS, either by
double-clicking the Fidelity GPoS shortcut on the desktop or
by clicking Start > All Programs > Fidelity
GPoS > Fidelity GPoS
|
|
Once GPoS has loaded, and as long as the corresponding POS record in
Total Control Premier has been configured correctly, the POS
terminal will begin communicating with the Job Controller, posting
transactions and picking up any updates made in Total Control
Premier that have been prepared using the Communications Wizard.
